New Phone, Who Dis?

I think it’s fair to say that I am quite a snob when it comes to my technology preferences. Over the years I’ve found myself always leaning towards brands that I know to be proven in what they do (like anybody I guess) and generally snubbing any product I’d never really heard of. Well it turns out, it pays to be a little more trusting these days.

The Test of Time

“They don’t make ’em like they used to,” is a popular phrase you hear a lot when you’re from my neck of the woods. Generally, it’s from an older age group, ruminating on the degradation of modern technology trends which can include everything from toasters to aeroplanes, no matter what it is, people truly believe that things were better “back then”. Which actually got me thinking, about things which are relevant to me, that have stood the test of time and things which attempted to survive throughout the ever-changing trends and demands of a growing audience, but unfortunately failed. Expensive Hobbies

It seems to me in this modern age, that the single greatest dilemma every person on the planet does battle with on a daily basis, is that against boredom. Whether it’s on the morning commute to work or you find yourself with an entire day and nothing to do, boredom can literally strike at any moment without warning. The biggest defence that we have against this age-old enemy, is to equip ourselves with numerous hobbies or tasks in the hopes and prayers that it is enough to satiate our boredom and return us back into that state of daily contentment. Which begs the question, if they’re so important to a healthy daily routine, why are hobbies so expensive? Continue reading “Expensive Hobbies”

Through Thick and Thin…

When you’ve supported something your whole life, followed it through the good times and the bad (with there being way more bad than good) and witnessed just how for that thing has come in recent years, it’s difficult not to become emotionally conflicted when said thing screws up. Now you’re all sat there, wondering what on earth I could possibly be referring to, but the truth is throughout my entire life there has only ever been one team I have religiously followed: the Wakefield Wildcats. The Defenders

It feels like a very long time ago, when the Avengers first came together after a lengthy build-up process. A painstaking amount of work went into developing the hero’s character and making sure everyone knew where they stood when it came to the eventual team-up. The final result was an awesome (if somewhat gaudy) coming together story, featuring the inevitable highs and lows when you put such big egos on screen together. 5 years later, and Netflix and Marvel have achieved a much more polished result with The Defenders. Wasted Potential

Those of you that know me, know I absolutely love Jurassic Park. I remember watching Jurassic Park as a kid, amazed at the dinosaurs and how awesome they looked and how scary the whole ordeal was and 20 years later I’m still as in love with it. It also helps that it was released in June 1993, when I was born, which also means I may have caused my Dad to miss going to see it…sorry Dad. With the advancements in palaeontology and such, we are pretty much certain that dinosaurs don’t look like they did in Jurassic Park (something that was touched upon in Jurassic World) but that doesn’t make the franchise any less awesome. It does seem to me however, that despite Jurassic Park’s ability to withstand the test of time, there is one platform where it falls firmly on its face, and that’s gaming. Very Good Omens

It’s safe to say, I’m not a religious person. In fact, the notion that ‘religion vs science’ is still even a thing anymore angers me greatly. Religion, in a lot of ways is a bit like Donald Trump. It comes up with some of the most ridiculous and outlandish things, with little to no evidence to back it up, and expects you to just accept it as if it were the norm. Sadly for ol’ Trumpy, religion is apparently the more convincing medium. Continue reading “Very Good Omens”
